Short ebooks sell the most!
Writing a perfect ebook matters the most!
I got many comments on my previous articles on short ebooks. Many asked me how long a short ebook should be.
If you are interested in knowing more about short ebooks and how to make money from them, then you can read my previous article here — I Make a Full-Time Income Selling Mini-Books
Book types and word count —
Flash book — Under 1k (short stories work the best here)
Short ebook — 5k to 10k (perfect for non-fiction)
Novella — Under 30k (good length for self-publishing marketplaces)
Novels/Full-length book — Minimum 100k (Published authors write under this category. Publishing houses mostly accept longer works)
My non-fiction books are between 5k to 10k. I don’t go beyond this range now.
My fiction books are mostly novella-length.
Why do I prefer short ebooks?
- I can write them within a few days.
- Editing is easy. Complex stories are always difficult to edit!
- Selling is even easier!
- Can be given as a freebie for marketing.
- Or work best for a bundle!
I’ll end this here.
I wrote longer works in my early 20s. But due to less time, I shifted to shorter work and never looked back since then. It’s been 10+ years, and this is working perfectly fine for me.
